An acupuncturist is a healthcare professional who specializes in acupuncture, a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves inserting fine needles into specific points on the body to stimulate natural healing and promote overall wellbeing. At Lumina Therapy, our skilled acupuncturists provide comprehensive care that includes the following:

Patient Assessment: Our acupuncturist at Lumina Therapy conducts a thorough evaluation of the patient's health history, lifestyle, and symptoms to create a tailored treatment plan.

Needle Insertion: Based on the diagnosis, the acupuncturist inserts thin, sterile needles into specific points on the patient's body. The needles are typically left in place for 15-30 minutes, during which time patients may experience sensations such as warmth, tingling, or a dull ache.

Additional Techniques: To enhance treatment outcomes, our acupuncturists may employ additional techniques such as cupping, moxibustion (burning dried mugwort near the skin), or electro-acupuncture (applying a mild electrical current to the needles).

Follow-up Care: Follow-up appointments are scheduled to monitor progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed, ensuring optimal results.

Acupuncture at Lumina Therapy is used to address a variety of health conditions, including chronic pain, stress, anxiety, digestive issues, respiratory disorders, and menstrual irregularities. Often, it is integrated with other healthcare services, such as physiotherapy or massage therapy, to offer a holistic approach to patient care.
